AVENGE HIM! As soon as this line was delivered in the trailer, I WAS SOLD!

Ok I may be jumping the gun a bit, as only a few moments before watch this trailer I was thinking… this is going to be another WACK sequel. Especially knowing that the lead actor of 300, Gerald Butler, playing everyone’s favourite Spartan King Leonidas was killed off, I didn’t think there would be much fun in seeing a new “leader”. But no…  there is a twist. It’s sad to say that the idea of a female leading a Greek army is unique and excitingly new, but I bloody love it!

Queen Gorgo played by Lena Headey has lost her husband and King and is about to lose her Kingdom, so she’s getting a little TURNT UP and ready to defend her own! (sorry for the Turnt up reference but her character is THAT FIERCE! *snaps fingers*).

AVENGE HIM! This is a great teaser and perfect  Independent woman statement for 2014, proving that women can and always will play an excellent strong female lead!

Again I may be jumping the gun again, but it’s really exciting to see a female lead, literally lead an army of men. We haven’t seen anything like this since the days of Joan of Arc and well… she was branded as a Witch and Crazy!

But I wonder will the original Testosterone built male fans take kindly to a female lead?

Will 300: Rise of an Empire be another box office success with a female lead?
