On Monday 14th January 2013, I had the pleasure of attending one of the most inspirational and emotional events of the year.
This event was entitled INSPIRED WORD -organised by the newly formed talent company ‘Renowned’ presenting to it’s excited audience George the Poet.
I’ve known George for a number of years now and I have never been so proud to witness a collection of his work. It was topped off by the beautiful surroundings and setting that is the Elgar Room in The Royal Albert Hall.
The night was hosted by the Renowned team Wretch 32, Zeon Richards and Vis of BBC 1Xtra and was opened by another of their hot new acts, named BBC extra’s One to watch for 2013 Jacob Banks who gave a beautiful performance!
My job for the night was to not only hold back tears of joy but also enjoy the inspirational spoken word of George, accompanied by a a choir, pianist, A double Bass player and guitarist creating a beautiful composition of music and thought provoking tales.
I have never seen a poet command the stage so well, or an audience hang on to every last word of a poet like they did last night. I can honestly say i cried several times last night as I witnessed the passion in every piece that George had written.
It was also great to see that the crowd was so diverse, in age, race and talent as along with the press and music star Wretch 32 supporting his new act ( might I add with a smile on his face like a proud father or big brother) but also International star Tinie Tempah and afro beats star Wizkid was also in attendance.
It was an impeccable show full of love, knowledge and it was so inspirational!
This is going to be an amazing year for George and I look forward to seeing and hearing more performances and inspiration spread to the masses!
